On the Pagan Traditions I follow.

I’d like to examine in this short essay the two currents of spiritual thought in the modern Pagan revival.  I follow two spiritual paths.  The first is Thelema, which is the revival of Greco-Egyptian and Greco-Roman Paganism.  These are the Southern Pagan mysteries.  The second is Asatru or the Troth (Truth), which is the revival of the Northern Nordic-Germanic Pagan mysteries.  The Celtic-Druidic system is considered a part of the Nordic-Germanic mysteries due to the Germanic ethnicity of the British Isles.  For brevity I’m going to focus on Thelema and the Troth.

Thelema is a Greek word that means “Will.”  This is one’s force of will, or the will of nature as manifest in the consciousness of man.  Schopenhauer’s concept of Will is an applicable description.  This unthinking, unconscious manifestation of desire through magickal workings and meditation becomes one’s “True Will.”  This is the “Higher Self” of the Gnostics, the manifestation of desire and power in the temporal world guided with supranatural consciousness from above.  It is beyond faith or believe and is in essence pure Being.  One is in constant give and take communication with their gods and the Universe.

The revival of the Greco-Egyptian-Roman Pagan Tradition occurred in Cairo in 1904 when Aleister Crowley channeled “Liber AL Vel Legis” or “The Book of the Law” from a preternatural, extraterrestrial entity named Aiwass who called himself the “Minister of Hoor-Paar-Kraat.”  The Egyptian Hoor-Paar-Kraat or the Greek Harpocrates, is the child Horus, deaf and dumb.  He represents the initiation into the mysteries, which occur with mental silence in the act of meditation.

“The Book of the Law” is three chapters with numbered verses.  Aiwass speaks as three different godform for each chapter in this order: Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit.  Nuit is the goddess of the night skies, depicted in Egyptian art as a female figure bending over the Earth, her breasts symbolizing the stars in space.  Nuit represents all of time, space, and the stars, with all the possibilities of action as dictated from the spirit in the material plane.  Hadit is symbolized by the winged globe often seen in Egyptian hieroglyphs.  He symbolizes all the possibilities in the Universe honed into a single action of Will.  This is symbolized by the dot in the circle.  The forward motion of Hadit is the manifestation of the True Will in the life of the Adept.  Ra-Hoor-Khuit is the active, mature, warrior Horus who crushes the head of the Apep Serpent in revenge for the death of his father Osiris.  He is the Star or Khabs in the Astral Body or Khu, which is the encasing for the Soul, called the Ka.  The formula of Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit is the formula for the attainment of congress with the Daimon.  This is similar to the concept of Samadhi in Hinduism and Buddhism which is the union with the Divine on Earth in the focusing of the mind in absolute concentration.  It is the Atman of Advaita Vedanta.

The formula of the Attainment of True Will is contained in the 11-word phrase “Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be the Whole of the Law,” 11 being the number of magick or the energy tending to change.  This command not to be taken as a call to hedonism or to “do what you want.”  It is the ultimate act of virtue and responsibility.  “Do What Thou Wilt” is a call to follow one’s True Will in life, meaning one’s life calling.  This can take many forms.  It could mean being an architect, a poet, an engineer, a software developer, a spiritual teacher.  The concept of True Will is centered around the Adept finding union with his or her Daimon or “Holy Guardian Angel.”   Finding one’s True Will aligns one with the “Holy Spirit” whom in the Greco-Egyptian system described here is Sophia.  In the Sumerian form, she is Babalon or Inanna.  The Star of Babalon is the Light of Nuit that is the power in the Sacred Point of Hadit that enflames the magickal power in the star or Khabs of the Adept.

The Tradition of Thelema uses Greek and Chaldean Qabalah, Tantric meditation and Yoga, sexual magick, and divination such as Tarot for spiritual initiation.  The spiritual philosophy of Thelema I practice is not associated with the Ordo Templi Orientis or the A:. A:., orders that practice a form that is rigid and dogmatic.   The version I follow is influenced by the ideas of Julius Evola and Rene Guenon, along with Kenneth Grant.  This version of Thelema is called the Typhonian Tradition.

The godforms of Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit correspond to the Greek godforms of Nyx, Dionysus, and Apollo.  The Roman equivalent of these godforms are Nox, Bacchus, and Apollo.  In the Nordic Germanic, the Godforms are Nott-Freyja, Wotan, and Baldr.  In the Hindu Tradition these would be Shakti, Shiva, and Ganesha-Krishna.  These godforms represent the core trinity of the religious cults of the West.

In the modern West is in the final years of the Indo-Aryan Age of Darkness called the Kali Yuga. In this era, the European peoples have lost all connection with the world of Tradition.  This corresponds to what the Nordic-Germanic culture called Ragnarok or the Twilight of the Gods.  The Thelemic equivalent is the Aeon of Osiris which is vanquished by the cycle of time known as the Twin Aeons of Horus and Ma’At.  The Satya Yuga or the Golden Age, which is the next cycle of cultural growth, corresponds to the Aeon of Ma’At.

The revival of the Nordic-Germanic Tradition of Asatru or the Troth, has been happening for about 150 years.  This Tradition never really went away, much in the same way the Greco-Egyptian-Roman Tradition was hidden in esoteric orders such as the Knight’s Templar and the Order of the Rose Croix but with a Christian façade as to avoid persecution.   The Elder Edda of the Nordic-Germanic Tradition was mostly an oral Tradition until it was written down in the 13th century.  The Prose Edda was written by Snorri Sturluson around 1220, though the stories are much older.  These texts tell the stories of the gods, and initiation into the mysteries.  Wotan or Odin is the God of magick, communication, and war.  He is associated with Hermes and Thoth in the Greek and Egyptian Traditions.

The Germanic Tradition is shamanic in nature, and is similar to the Traditions of the Native Americans.  It has two schools of magick.  One Tradition is called Galdr which means “song.”  This is a form of chanting and singing and are associated with the solar mysteries.  The other form is Seid, which includes meditation and sexual magick which is associated with the lunar mysteries.  It also includes trance and astral journeys.

The Priest of this Tradition is called a Godhi and the Priestess is a Gythia.  They are the masters of the Runes, the Elder Futhark magickal alphabet.  These letters are similar to the Greek and Hebrew letters in that they act as a Qabalah as power pathways between the Nine Worlds of the Yggdrasil Tree as they manifest in our reality.  This is similar to the Tree of Life in the Hebrew and Chaldean Traditions.

These two Traditions, Thelema and Asatru, are the twin currents of the modern revival of the Pagan Tradition of Europe.  This is the revival of the Apollonian Nordic consciousness in the West to replace the dying religion of Christianity, the Middle Eastern cult which, along with Islam, is the religion of the Dark Age of the Kali Yuga.  It is the goal of my work to bring these European Traditions to my fellow Westerners as a revival of their culture.

On the Magickal View of the Universe, Life, and Art.

Our modern world has forgotten what it means to have a “magickal consciousness” and live a life of action utilizing Intellectual Intuition. The following is an excerpt from my forthcoming book “The Chaos Aeon, Vol 1: Thelema and Chaos Magick in Theory and Practice for the New Aeon of Ma’at.” This will come out in June 2025. I thought the following passage is a good example of what is termed “magickal consciousness.” This is a description of the process of Initiation as a neophyte. I have found life to be full of coincidence, sign, and omen, with the Universe speaking directly to me. It is a heightened sense of consciousness that reconciles our human nature with the Divine.

ON THE MAGICKAL VIEW OF THE UNIVERSE, LIFE, AND ART.

Upon first connection with the Infinite, the Initiate, an individual with an aura different than other people, will listen from that place deep inside himself, and he will hear a strange, yet familiar voice.  This voice that speaks from deep within our collective unconscious is the voice of the True Self that has been suppressed by our materialistic modern world.  For the Initiate, regardless of culture, this voice speaks the same.  It speaks from deep within our unexplored caverns of the mind, from deep in our ancestral memory, and this voice is aligned with one’s intuition and perception of the secret intelligence behind the veil of the material world, and when the Initiate gives himself over to this way of seeing, to this voice, an awakening occurs.  The Initiate will look at this world around him, and a strange feeling will present itself.  It is the feeling that he has always held deep in the back of his mind from early childhood, throughout his formative years, and throughout his entire “formal education.”  As he matures into adulthood, that understanding, that feeling will stay hidden in the back of his consciousness until that moment when all is unveiled, and the Initiate makes the full realization that none of this is real.

All our temporal, material reality is but a fabrication.  All its appearances and forms are based in our shared, collective, absolute belief in its “truth” or “solidity.”  No two people can possibly share the same exact view of this reality, yet we all share in this illusion, experiencing both its negative and positive forms in their manifestation.  The Western philosophical discourses on the “nature of reality” all collapse upon the Initiate’s realization that nothing has any material substance.  The space between the electrons in the cloud around the nucleus of an atom is empty, and the relative distance between the nucleus of an atom and its electrons is infinite when our perception is reduced to their levelAtoms are 99.9999999% empty space.  So, then it goes to follow that if the world itself is empty space, and if this world does not exist, then as individuals, we do not exist.

Time and space are but perception, and the forms of this world are not solid.  We are made of energy, which cannot be created nor destroyed.  Electricity burns through our bodies which do not exist.  Our actions and our thoughts are energy, electricity, which again cannot be created nor destroyed.  Our collective belief in the solidity of things is nearly impenetrable, and the only path to freedom and knowledge of the non-material is through the Path of Initiation and the understanding of myth.  It is on this inward journey that our actions become a directed source of energy and Will in the outside world.

This is the Way of Balance, the Way of Power, and the Way of the Tao.  This is the path of the warrior, a path without fear.  The reality prescribed by our collective society and its false way of “seeing” instills in the consciousness of the individual an overwhelming sense of fear.  The world of humanity is a world of fear, and the occultist is one who through her own independent actions, wields her life like a dagger against all anxiety and all fear.  Throughout this process of self-discovery, reality crumbles and the intelligence of the Universe guides the aspirant through life-obstacles called in occult terms “Ordeals of Initiation.”  These “Ordeals” are spiritually coordinated life-events, often difficult in nature, that assist the Initiate in erasing every neurosis and anxiety that leaves her inhibited in manifesting her Will on the material plane.  This spiritual attainment is in direct rebellion to the façade that is prescribed to imprison us all.

We have all known fear, for it permeates all our lives and culture.  In the last 2,000 years, the Abrahamic religions in their fragmented and toxic forms have instilled a special version of repression and fear that the ancient European Pagan world did not know.  The Pagans did not have the same attitude towards life and the spirit.  Life in their world was meant to be lived completely, and death was welcomed.   The passage from this life, this world, this Universe A to Universe B is the Great Mystery, and the ignorant fear of this Mystery is the genesis of all dissolution in this degraded modern world.

In Traditional Pagan civilization men and women led a life of balance, of simplicity, free of these modern conveniences and distractions.  In this, they had a power, from the farmer and warrior to the Priest and Priestess.  They were able to deal with pain deeply and thoroughly, and then they were able to let it go, without disturbing their Will or life purpose.  In the modern world, materialism and “progressivism” insists on the human being living in the future, forcing the individual to separate her sense of Self further and further away from her true inner essence, while her sense of personal justification is given to her from those people and ideologues that seek to control her.  Because of this lack of self-governance and control, the modern citizen has overwhelming feelings of depression, anxiety, and fear, along with a sense that the world is empty and pointless.  Julius Evola writing as “Abraxas” describes the process of Initiation, beckoning the aspirant to:

“Dig, without fear, with a sharp tool.  Ask yourself ‘What elements of my body can I justify with my will?  Do I will my own breathing, or the inner combustion through which food is ingested?  Do I want my own form, my own flesh, this particular man, who is in this fashion, happy or unhappy, noble or vulgar?’  But since I ask these questions, should I not press further on?  Do I really will “my” will, “my” conscience, “my” Self, or are they just there?  That which I claim is caused by my will, I should also be able not to will it, and thus I should be able to live without it.  As far as “my” empirical Self is concerned, do I own it, or does it own me?” (“Introduction to Magic, Vol. 1” Julius Evola and the UR Group, pg. 17.

The Initiate must ask whether the Self he has always known is his True Self, or if it is a prescription by the modern world and its distractions.  The modern world steals the individual from his true Inner Self, his true essence unpolluted by the images and ideologies of the time.  The True Self aligns one with the Will of the Universe, and in this our lives become the essence of joy.

The ancients of Traditional Western Civilization, prior to materialistic and historical Christianity that began the 2,000-year decline of our spiritual and philosophical systems, knew that there existed an axis of knowledge of a realm outside of this quotidian “reality,” which is the perception of the presence of our bodies at a certain point in space and time.  Religious and scientific dogma, based on the “theory” of reality, obfuscates the true nature of Being, a superior realm of consciousness above the lesser realm of Becoming, the mundane thought-consciousness of “man in the world,” which philosopher Martin Heidegger refers to as Dasein. In the realm of Being, one is connected to the Higher Realms, the essence of one’s “soul” under the divine command of those who exist beyond the veil.  This is the union of humankind with the Higher World.  This is the superior nature of Being, the realm of the Adept, the High Initiate who leaves behind the material world of Becoming.

The ancient Persian Magi of the Zoroastrians cultivated a worldview that was the antithesis to the modern Western Christian-Marxist materialist belief in progressivism- the idea that man’s imperfection can be made perfect through Socialism, Communism, or Liberal-Democracy.  Christianity, a Middle Eastern cult, insists that the West redeem its “Original Sin” through the vicarious atonement the blood of Jesus Christ.  This is a cult like theology which is, in essence, about the abdication of personal responsibility.  This has led to the abuse of women and the emasculation of men.

Progressivists believe that humanity is influential in the world of nature, that humanity can be perfected socially and physically, that we can conquer nature even as “stewards.”  Our progressivist society believes that humans can perfect nature and ourselves, but in turn this false notion makes us weak and destructive to each other and the world we inhabit.  “Progressivism” and Christianity are about social control under the notion that the current society and world is “oppressive.”  This Neo-Gnosticism is devoid of spiritual Initiation, but rather pushes collective narcissism and psychosis.  Our Consensus Reality forces upon human consciousness the notion that all of us are weak, fearful, and oppressed.  Zoroastrians called this state of being the Lie.

The Lie that the world is an oppressive place has been ingrained by our progressivist Christian society into our minds beginning at birth.  Our entire Western education system is now predicated on the notion of oppression, thus crushing the genius and curiosity of those who see beyond this distortion.  The Christian church taints us with the concept of “Original Sin,” a concept that has kept the spirit of the West enchained in a false consciousness of weakness and shame. The Lie is so insidious that the only way for most to break free from this corruption of the mind and spirit is through shamanic magickal Initiation.

The Hermetic Tradition and the Foundation of the West.

In various discourses, some ill-informed anti-Left activists on the Right have associated Marxism with the Hermetic Tradition.  This absurdity is being propagated by various “classical liberal” and “conservative” influencers, all of whom are mediocre thinkers.   In addition, these influencers accuse the Hegelian Dialectic of giving birth to communism and fascism via Marx.  This is due to the American Right’s lack of understanding of postmodernism and Critical Theory, along with the philosophy of Hegel and Kant.  American academia, since the writings of Jacques Derrida were introduced into our humanities departments, has been in a state of collapse.   It seems as though postmodernism and its denial of truth has infected thinking on both sides of the political aisle.  This is not helped with the fundamentalist Christians, mostly Calvinists, who infect the modern American Right.  Their universities and media ecosystems spread anti-science creationism, church conspiracy theories, and outright misinformation about the Classical world.  All of this has contributed to the misunderstanding of Hermeticism, which is the foundation of Western Civilization.

First, we must analyze exactly what the Hegelian Dialectic is.  At its most basic, the Dialectic of the German philosopher Friedrich Hegel theorizes the union of opposites: the thesis and the antithesis uniting in a synthesis creating a higher idea.  This overcomes the shortcomings, inconsistencies, and other flaws inherent in the previous ideas.  We can see this in action in various religious and political ideologies of the Left and the Right.  In essence, this philosophical concept of the “absolute idea” is similar to the spiritual concepts of initiation in the mysteries of the Advaita Vedanta Tradition.  In Vedanta, the Initiate achieves union of Subject and Object through silence (sleep) in the form of meditation.  It is the union of the soul or Higher Self (Atman) with the transcendent divine (Brahma.)  It is the Adept’s transcendence of the world of illusion (Maya) through the obliteration of duality.

Hegel’s Dialectic influenced Marx and Engels, but their Dialectical Materialism rejected the idealism of Hegel.  Instead of grasping for greater ideas and transcendence through free will and the Greater Idea, Dialectical Materialism looks for changes to be made in society to resolve duality in conflict in the life of the individual, basically inverting the concept of the idea or the Self creating the world, and asserting rather that the individual is the product of social forces.  Marx assigns the issues of contradiction to things in society that create conflict in the individual.   There is no “spiritual initiation” of the individual in the ascetic striving for union with the Divine with the reconciliation of duality in acts of spiritual personal responsibility, only action taken to change society to suit the individual and resolve the individual’s inner contradiction and duality, with no spiritual or physical effort required of the individual.  It is materialistic, spiritually vapid, and Ego-driven.  Dialectical Materialism is, in essence, the concept that society creates the consciousness of the individual in a blank slate theory.  It uses the state to erase duality or contradiction (suffering) in society.

Hegel influenced thinkers on both the Right and the Left.  Hegel takes Immanuel Kant’s criticism of philosophy based on a purely rationalistic model unable to reconcile contradictions, and improves upon it by introducing the possibility of reconciliation through the union of thesis and antithesis by discarding unworkable elements that were impeding the original concepts from finding synthesis.

Hermeticism and Gnosticism, at the basic level of understanding of these spiritual concepts, is that there is a Higher Self, a spiritual self as opposed to the mundane self which lacks awareness and is part of society.  Rather than changing society to change the individual, the Gnostic rejects all of society for union with the Divine.  There is no need to change society.  The society is irrelevant.  There is only union with the Divine through the reconciliation of duality with spiritual initiation into the mysteries.  It is only resolved for the elite.  Hermeticism, is considered the Royal Art, due to its aristocratic nature.

The Hermetic Tablets are the synthesis of the Pagan Traditions in the Hellenistic world at Alexandria.  Hermes Trismegistus, or “Hermes the Thrice-Greatest” is a composite of the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth.  Hermes-Thoth is the god of magick, learning, philosophy, communication, and alchemy.  He also is a patron of the arts, and the godform of the creative act.   In the Hellenistic era, Hermes Trismegistus was viewed as the wise Philosopher King of Egypt.

In Hermetic alchemy, the two symbols associated with the Great Work of union with the divine are the Ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail, and the Tree.   The Ouroboros serpent represents the endless cycles of creation and destruction and death and rebirth.   The Tree is a symbol of initiation into the mysteries, a concept to be found in the esoteric core of all religions.  According to Evola, in Hermeticism,

“The symbol of the tree is quite prevalent in the alchemical texts.  The tree shelters the “fountain” of Bernard of Treviso, in whose center is the symbol of the dragon Ouroboros, who represents the “All.”  It personifies “Mercury,” either as the first principle of the hermetic Opus, equivalent to the divine Water or “Water of Life” that gives resurrection to the dead and illuminates the Sons of Hermes, or else it represents the “Lady of the Philosophers.”  But it also represents the Dragon, that is, a dissolving force, a power that kills.  The Tree of the Sun and the Tree of the Moon are also hermetic symbols, sometimes producing crowns in the place of fruits. (“The Hermetic Tradition,” Julius Evola, pg. 4.)

Both the Ouroboros and the Tree represent both the destruction and recreation of the psyche and personality of the Initiate.  The Ouroboros symbolizes the death resurrection of the lower personality into the Higher Self in magical initiation.  The Tree is the symbol of the Caduceus of Hermes, which portrays two snakes entwining around a winged staff.  This is an early image of the DNA helix and also a reference to the twin energy currents that move up and down the spine, corresponding to the Fire-Snake of the Tantrics, the serpent power that rises in an intertwined spiral of male and female energies through the Shushumna.   The Tree is also found in the Qabalist Tradition in the Ten Sephiroth and 22 Pathways.  In the Hebrew Tradition, Enoch corresponds to Hermes.   When following the process of attainment on the Tree of Life, the Initiate travels from the lowest sphere on the Tree, Malkuth through the Pathways and Sephiroth to the top sphere, Kether in what is called the Lightning Flash of the Serpent.  These concepts mirror the rising of Kundalini in the Tantric Tradition.  It also is found in the myth of Odin sacrificing his eye in the Well of Mimir to receive all magickal knowledge, and hanging from the Yggdrassil Tree to be initiated into the mysteries of the runes.  Odin or Wotan is the equivalent of Hermes and Thoth in the Nordic-Germanic Mysteries.

The Hermetic Tablets or Corpus Hermeticum are the culmination of several thousand years of spiritual philosophy dating back to the Greeks and Sumerians.  It is the synthesis of the Greco-Egyptian magickal Tradition of the Hellenistic era.   Hermeticism, along with the Rites of the City of Eleusis, the Eleusinian Mysteries, were some of the initiatory schools in ancient Greece and Egypt.  These Mysteries had their culmination around the year 200 BCE and are the foundations of what would become the Gnostic and Christian religions.   Some believe the Hermetic texts are forgeries, but this is mostly Christian, and most recently Calvinist propaganda.  These Christian propagandists also assign the dates of Gnostic and Hermetic texts to the second century CE as some kind of heresy, when in actuality, these concepts existed long before, back to the religions of ancient Egypt. It was also found in the systems of the Sumerians and the pre-Dynastic North African Kamites.  According to Marlene Seven Bremner,

“The ancient Hermetic teachings of Egypt originally spread to Greece by way of the philosophers who made expeditions to Egypt to be initiated into the mysteries, including Orpheus, Democritus, Plato, Pythagoras, and Eudoxus.  Among the earliest of these was the mythical and enchanting Orpheus (ca. 725-675 BCE), attributed with writing the Orphic hymns.  Diodorus tells us that Orpheus traveled to Egypt, which would have been a great influence on the development of Orphic cosmogony in which Dionysus, an agrarian god of death and rebirth, like the Egyptian Osiris, played a key role.  A little later, Pythagoras of Samos (ca 570-495 BCE,) the pre-Socratic philosopher, having traveled in Phoenicia and received initiation into the mysteries of Byblos and Tyre, traveled to Egypt where these sacred rites had their origin, immersing himself in the wisdom of the Egyptian priests.  The Neoplatonic philosopher Iamblichus (ca 242-325 CE), disciple of Porphyry, asserted that the philosophies of Plato and Pythagoras were developed from the “ancient pillars of Hermes.”  Plutarch writes that Pythagoras copied the Egyptian symbols and occult teachings, and as a result his teachings reflect the enigmatic hieroglyphic writings.  A great portion of his life, twenty-two years according to Iamblichus, was spent amid the temples of Egypt, studying geometry and astronomy and being initiated into the ancient mysteries, after which he spent another twelve years of study in Babylon before returning to Samos.  As a testament to Pythagoras’s Hermetic initiation, he is praised as have “a greater gift of God and of Wisdom than was granted to anyone after Hermes,” and described as “a disciple of the disciples by the grace of thrice-great Hermes” in the Turba Philosophorum (the Assembly of the Philosophers), an Arabic treatise of philosophical and alchemical discourse (ca. 900 CE.) (“Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy,” Maria Seven Bremner, pg. 35.)

As we can see, the Hermetic Tradition of the Greco-Egyptian-Roman civilizations, the Odinic Mysteries of the North, along with the religious forms that emerged out of the Indo-Aryan Vedic culture that moved from central Asia and Eastern Europe into the Indian Subcontinent, all are the foundation of Western Civilization and its religion, philosophy, and art.  The modern Christian notion that Hermeticism is “demonic” or a “strange heretical cult” which along with Gnosticism is responsible for the current decline of the West by influencing Marxism is one of the absurdities of the modern American political discourse.  It is symptomatic of the Kali Yuga cycle of the greater West.   Hermes is the God of the West in his various forms, as he is the great architect of our language, arts, philosophy, medicine, and temples.   The cult of the Christos is a foreign installation in the Western consciousness.  However, elements of the Hermetic Tradition exist in Judaism and Christianity, and to understand them we must examine what is meant by “Gnosticism,” in the late Hellenistic world.

“Gnosis” or “knowledge” according to Kenneth Grant, is associated with the concept of “Jnana, i.e., Knowledge of the Real as opposed to the unreal.  Not the conceptual knowledge of phenomena (appearances), but the apperceptive apprehension of noumenon.” (“Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God,” Kenneth Grant, pg. 196.)  Gnosis, in essence is the knowledge of the Kantian Thing in Itself or “noumenon,” the essence of the Subject verses the perception of the Object via the senses.  It corresponds with the Samadhi of Yoga, the union of Subject and Object.  This, again, is similar to Hegel’s merging of thesis and anti-thesis, but here it is purely spiritual and transcendent in the raising of the individual conscience of the Initiate in mystical union with the godhead.  This is a singular spiritual path, requiring ascesis and hierarchical attainment.  Gnostic and Hermetic Initiation predicates itself on varying hierarchical grades.  There is a master and a student, and the student through his or her spiritual ordeals and meditative processes, reaches a form of Enlightenment or what in Hinduism is called Jnana.  Again, confusing Gnosticism with the Dialectic Materialism of Marx is an error in understanding how philosophies inform each other.  Marx abandoned the concept of German Idealism, which in Hegel’s conception puts forth the notion that the idea creates the world.  This “idea” is the stand-in for the individual Self.  The Marxist Dialectical Materialism inverts the Hegelian dialectic, stripping it of any spiritual conceptualizations of the fully realized Self through initiation, and instead puts forth the dialectic of the world or society creating the “idea” or Self.

The ancient Gnostic religion was a form of dualism and polytheism which posits that there are two forms of spiritual consciousness: Gnostikos, meaning “knowledge” and Pistikos, meaning “belief.”  In the old Harpocratian and Ophidian cults, the Gnostic is one who leaves behind the material world created by the Demiurge IAO or Ialdabaoth, and finds union with Sophia (Wisdom) through a process of magical initiation.  This usually involves communion with one’s Augoeides “Holy Guardian Angel.”   It is the Daimon of the Greeks, offering Eudaimonia through the balance of Sophrosyne (temperance.)  This initiatory concept is similar to breaking free from Samsara and the world of illusion or Maya and finding unity with the Cosmic Self or Atman in Vedanta.  Again, this is not “collectivist.”  Perhaps the confusion regarding Gnosticism and falsely associating it with Marx, is that the movement called Theosophy had a faulty, though non-political concept of “mass initiation” for humanity in the coming “new age.”  This is a sort of spiritual fallacy and a utopian concept that tries to get rid of the concept of Initiation as secret and hierarchical, with “knowledge” and “gnosis” as for the worthy and elite few.  Instead, Theosophy posits in a utopian way, that initiation is for all, regardless of caste or mentality.  This is of course progressivist and of the Kali Yuga, but it is not a political program for Marxism.  Spiritual enlightenment can only be done on an individual and not collective basis.

Postmodernism and Marxism in general is opposed to all a priori knowledge and is specifically opposed to metaphysics and religion.  It posits that all reality is created by language, but not in a metaphysical sense, but in an atheist simulacrum of “power,” and that the proper response to this is through critique of meta-narratives and culture to push a new meta-narrative of a displaced Self controlled by social forces only to be reconciled by the socialist state. This is again the opposite of spirituality and religion, which asserts that a priori knowledge exists in the form of the Divine that is the mystery of the Universe.  Postmodernism and Marxism assert that the world can be understood through logic, empiricism, and reason.  It contains the irrational in the concept of constant “play,” which is usually seen in the creative artistic output of postmodernism in the merger of high and low in the kitsch art of the contemporary West and the endless language games in its philosophy.  This concept of “play” is also seen in the transgender and body modification movements of postmodernism.  It is a purely narcissistic “gnosis” of the lower self, done in a collective fashion and not a spiritual attainment of something Higher or Supernatural.  Postmodernism is the symptom of collapse and it devoid of any higher spiritual content.

The complete ignorance of the Classical Hellenistic world, the art and religion of the West, and a basic lack of understanding of the history and concepts in philosophy taints the Right’s fight against the Cult of Marxist Intersectionality and the racial anti-European cult.  Conservative Christians, psychologists like Jordan Peterson, and atheist conspiracy theorists like James Lindsay, don’t understand alchemy, Gnosticism, and Hermeticism, mostly due to bias in the cultural Christianity they were raised in which has always pushed false propaganda against the spiritual initiatory schools of the Pagan world.  This is unfortunate.  Marxism in its ever-changing forms continues to poison the West and people like James Lindsay assist the Marxists in the destruction of the West by attacking its foundation which is the Hermetic Tradition.  It is my wish that the knowledge of the Hermetic Tradition and its initiatory system is restored for the revival of the West.

The Wings of Fate.

My current poems are about war. The current global conflict that has started with the Israel-Gaza War and the Russian-Ukrainian War will metastasize into World War III. This is inevitable. These works are a spiritual meditation on the nature of war and human suffering. It seems the more we try to stifle this natural human impulse, it cannot help but manifest in our world.

This war signals the final days of the Kali Yuga, the Age of Darkness. Humanity is going through a crisis which will signal the end of the modern world and a return to simplicity. These works are a documentation of this spiritual crisis.

THE WINGS OF FATE

Lift the wings of the child of ruin

Who wields the sword

Flashing with the sun at dawn.

He brings us refuge

From the curse of time and the blisters

On our lips.

Lift the wings

Of the painted bird mutilated by the crows

For wearing the colors of

God

And whispering the sacred name

In the wind that blows through the ruins

Of civilization.

See the hawk fly over the field

That’s scorched by bombs,

Where the soil is mutilated and bleeds

From the tracks of tanks.

In the ditch is the naked body of a woman held

By a dead soldier

In a failed attempt to save her from the mouth

Of the Abyss.

The hawk saves us from the world’s transgressions

Against our great mother’s heart.

He brings us her grace in the morning

As she kisses the world

With

The

Sun.

We see the horror unfold in the flesh torn

By the beak,

And we see the women weeping

For their sons and daughters who were stolen

In the darkness of midnight.

These bloody bones shock the world

From its slumber

But we’re drifting in the astral stream with the

Old gods

Who burn behind our eyelids as we hide

From the brutal light.

Through their holy sacrifice,

We’re saved from the darkness of the night and the

Death

Of

The

Sun.

We’re alive again

Dreaming of the blackness dispersing

As the flares light up the sky

And illuminate the faces of the dead.

We’re the living ones

Who put the world back together with the mortar

Made from crushed bones

And we’re the roses of truth

Growing in the broken stones,

Melted steel, and gravel.

This is the summer before death

When the heat rises from our bodies as we

Lay in bed,

Our flesh together,

Our sacred sting still aching on our lips.

The July heat keeps us listless

But the war comes on the horizon,

When we’ll wash this sin of the race away so we can

Receive the blessings

Of history.

Christianity, Marxism, and the Destruction of the West.

The political situation in America has gone into strange territory.  Much of this has a spiritual connotation, as the chaos of both political parties contributes to the mental and cultural decline of our civilization.  There seems to be no center, neither politically or spiritually, and we’ve gone off into the Abyss into extreme, cultish behavior.  Most of this is on the Left, but it is nascently infecting the Right.

This chaos is due to the waning influence of the Christian religion in our society.  European culture, of which America is a part, had its ethnic religions ripped away from it 1700 years ago and had it replaced by a foreign cult called Christianity.  This has had the effect of homogenizing the different peoples of the West, and keeping them hypnotized and working against their best interests.  Christianity requires a slave-like attitude.  The individual in the cult of Christianity has no personal agency.  He is just a victim of the forces of the world without a spiritual center, praying to a god that is “out there somewhere.”  This anthropomorphic god then dispenses boons based on “good behavior” and the recipient then marches along with "faith,” hoping things will just “work out.”

In the Pagan Traditions, the Initiate lives in the moment, connected to Supranatural Consciousness.   They exist in a state of temperance and balance while receiving messages from the Divine in the form of sign, coincidence, and omen.  Rather than praying to a god “out there somewhere” for help, God exists all around in nature and in space and time.  “God,” is a part of oneself.  The Divine is the essence of all godforms that exist within your psyche.  Being polytheistic, various gods represent certain philosophical concepts and energies that in nature and in one’s Self.  One summons the gods and goddess for assistance in trying situations or for beneficial outcomes.  Overall, one lives in a state of balance connected to a higher state of consciousness called “Intellectual Intuition” which exists above the rational and irrational.  It is a metaphysical, experiential relationship with the Divine as it manifests in our temporal world.  There is no “belief” nor “faith.”  There is only action in accordance with higher principles and Cosmic Consciousness.

The concepts of Original Sin and Vicarious Atonement have engendered in the Western consciousness a self-loathing, which according to Christian theology, is inherited at birth, so even as an infant, one is a “wretched sinner.”  This sinner must then look to Christ to absolve them of their sins.  Upon confession and repentance, the sinner then goes back to their normal routines and behaviors, returning to church every Sunday to beg forgiveness.  The standards become impossible to uphold, so the “sinner” then becomes a slave to their vices in a cycle of guilt, reward, and punishment.  Whatever “sin” one is trying to expunge now happens more frequently due to the extreme authoritarian method to suppress it.  Pagan Tradition understands the concept of what in the Indo-Aryan Tradition is called Karma and what in the Nordic Germanic Tradition was called Orlog.  This, at its most elementary definition, is the concept that past actions dictate present circumstances.  This is the Cycle of Time and Dharma that is the Universe in manifestation.  In the Nordic Germanic Tradition this is called Wyrd.  In the Thelemic Tradition this is called “achieving Hadit.”

Unlike the Pagan Traditions, Christianity has a deep hatred of the body, so it engenders in the Westerner a sense of disgust with and a denial of oneself.  This has contributed to the hatred women have for their bodies, obesity, and a host of sexual dysfunction in men and women.  The hatred of sex that Christianity exhibits often results in a host of sexual perversions.  The temperance of the Pagan Tradition and the focus on the Divine Feminine offers an alternative to the Abrahamic consciousness of self-loathing.  The Pagans saw sex as holy and sacred.  It was viewed as a source of health.

How does all this relate to the current political situation in the West?  The concept of Original Sin in Christian theology has been transposed onto Marxist thought in the form of the racial and gender ideology called Intersectionality.  It posits that all of Western culture is oppressive to the “Other” which is a term used to describe “non-white peoples” and those who are not heterosexual.  It operates under the faulty notion that only Indo-European people can be racist and that all “white” men are sexist and racist oppressors who have constructed an all-encompassing “white capitalist heteronormative patriarchy” to enslave these so-called marginalized people.  Rather than catering to merit and virtue, this creates a culture of victimhood and Nietzschean ressentiment directed at the supposed oppressor i.e., the “white man.”  This assault on Indo-European culture is based on a faulty metaphysics and denies the cognitive and physical abilities of different groups.  What occurs in this atheistic form of metaphysics is that one can change their gender in a form of inverted narcissistic pseudo-spiritual initiation, or one can see racial discrimination in innocuous things, dragging people into struggle sessions and Kafka trials to get them to confess their “sins” of racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.  This is what I call “Late Christianity,” the materialist debasement of spirituality into communism and persecution of thought.  It is the reason why all of our art and literature is viewed as sexist and racist.   This ideology is why Third World migrants are allowed to move to Europe and America in large masses as a form of cultural revenge for supposed racial sins.   Original Sin and Vicarious Atonement in a spiritual sense engenders a lack of personal responsibility, while the piety of the religion itself gives the individual both a sense of spiritual superiority and a lack of intellectual curiosity; all toxic for spiritual growth and is the reason for the collective stupidity and narcissism on display in the modern West.  Original Sins of racism and sexism are confessed and purged, whether one is truly guilty of these transgressions or not.

I posit that the West has yet to get out of the Dark Age caused by Christianity, even with the technological progress we’ve made.  We have in our culture a form of scientism which has become a sort of Scientific Nationalism, which intends to enforce scientific dogma upon the West in the place of decayed and debased Christian dogma.  All of it is based on mind-control and a lack of cultural curiosity.  This makes the population easy to control by the Leftist elite.  It is the world solidification from spiritual consciousness into hard matter and materialism.  It is the deadening of consciousness.

What is needed is a return to the ancient Pagan Traditions.  Their morality is based in honor and truth.  This reconciles all morality and replaces the toxic authoritarianism of Christianity with a code of chivalry, manners, and aristocracy that creates a world of passionate, courageous, and honorable men and women.  Pagans also worshipped the body, which in turn engendered physical health.  The ancient Pagan world understood the roles of men and women as the Priest and Priestess, this leads to a balance in society.  The Priest is the earthly manifestation of God, and the Priestess is the earthly manifestation of the Goddess.   Also, the Pagan world did not separate science from its Traditional spiritual wisdom.  As scientific advances were made, the religion changed along with it, adding new attributes and dimensions to the gods and goddesses.  The Christian religion, especially in its Late Protestant forms assigns scriptures to a historic literalism in its unquestioned theology, thus taking what is complex symbol assisting in mystical initiation and turning it into a toxic delusion that creates not only a separation of theology and science, but a separation of God and mankind from nature itself.

The collapse of the West into Marxism is due to the nature of Christian theology.  All of its concepts are stifling to the mind and damaging to the body.  It takes us away from our true spirituality and wisdom and engenders a lack of curiosity and an inability to see nuance and to reconcile the abstractions and ambiguities that exist in life.  This is why we have the extreme political division in our country and it is the reason why you see desperate, Cultish behavior on the progressive left and within the Christian Church.  It is the cause of mental illness and the spiritual decay of our country.  Only with a return to the Pagan and Hermetic Tradition will the spiritual center of our civilization be restored and will our culture rise again to greatness in its arts, philosophy, religion, and politics.  This Hermetic Tradition will be explored in this journal in all its aspects as it relates to the evolution of human consciousness. I hope that in a small way this assists in the revival of the West.

DIONYSUS

Many conservatives in the United States shy away from being involved in the arts.  They think either that it is “sinful” if you’re a Christian, or that its not pragmatic if you’re a fiscal conservative.  True conservatism is rooted in the European Traditions.  Great art is of Apollo and Dionysus, the creative expression of Light and Dark and Sex and Death.

I’d like to share one of my recent poems from a future book I’m working on.  My other work is available here on my site and on Amazon.

 DIONYSUS

Let us call upon the child

Who brings the cure for disease,

Who in sacred rites binds the Earth with the Sun.

Let us now call upon the lover

Who breaks the bread

And pours the wine

For our holy sacrament and divine feast.

This is the rite of the dawn,

That breaks open the gateway between the light of creation

And the void.

Let us call upon the goat

Who pierces the veil with a song

Of lightness and intoxication.

He’s nailed to the tallest tree in the forest

Redeeming all desire

While the women dance in the circle and swim naked

In a river of red.

Light the torches

And sacrifice the calf for the oracle,

The last voice of truth

That brings down lightning from the eye of God.

Let this new era of freedom begin

With the violence of the ritual

And the ruddiness of the skin of Our Lady

As our lord plays his hymns on the golden lyre just for her.

Let us all give praise to our holy one

The dancing goat

As the power of the stars

Comes

On

Down

In

White

Fire

Bringing light to our civilization collapsing under the weight

Of all the women and their desire

To find a ghost on the screen willing to tell them

They are all beautiful

And real.

An Inauguration...

This journal is an exploration into occult symbolism and philosophy of the Traditional Western religions.  It is also going to be an exploration into the nature and theory of Western Art.  Along with this, the current political climate of our age will be analyzed from a Pagan Traditionalist perspective.  It is my hope that one finds spiritual truths and a way to embark on one’s own path toward celestial consciousness through engaging with the techniques and philosophies in my writing.

Several days before this writing, former President Donald J. Trump a candidate for the 2024 U.S. Presidency was nearly assassinated.  Mr. Trump seems to be the only bulwark, the lone warrior of Truth in the West against the forces of dissolution.  The chaos in Western society has been more and more pronounced in the last 20 years or so, especially since September 11th 2001 in the United States and mass migration from the Middle East to Europe.

This age of chaos began in the 19th century with the industrial revolution, but the seeds of it were planted 2,000 years ago with the Christian destruction of European civilization.  We in the West are in a state of final collapse, and this is quite apparent from the events surrounding the attempt on Donald Trump’s life.  We are in the state of pure dissolution of the last days of the Kali Yuga.  The West has been invaded by the Third World, the nations are in debt and struggling economically, and there is no Tradition of spirituality of European culture to bind our civilization together.  The Cult of Intersectionality dismisses all of Western art, history, science, literature, philosophy, and spiritual wisdom as being of “white supremacy” and calls for it to be dismantled.  Also, the Marxist Left calls for the cultural and spiritual genocide of the Indo-European peoples, while the supposed “religion of the West” Christianity, a foreign Middle-Eastern cult, has no influence on society and has now become postmodern kitsch.  The Christian-Marxist hostility toward culture has made the average Indo-European an empty shell, filling his time with pointless distractions and a general sense of ennui.

The return of the Pagan world and the Primordial Tradition begins the Satya Yuga or the Golden Age.  This is a symbol of cultural regrowth and a society in union with Supranatural Consciousness.  The average citizen of the modern world can no longer possess their time, and have lost the keys to Initiation.  This journal, and my writing in general, is dedicated to the revival of this Perennial Philosophy and magical Tradition.

I’ve been an artist, performer, and writer for the last 30 years. In my work, I use occult symbolism.  This journal will also be an exploration into the occult and Pagan imagery and themes in art.  It is my contention that art is shamanism, a communication from Universe B manifesting in Universe A.  The phrase “to draw” means “to bring out,” and in the process of drawing, I’ve communicated with elementals and godforms from what is called the Mauve Zone.  In theatre, I have felt the spirit.  All of these concepts will be described here.

My philosophical influences are Julius Evola, Rene Guenon, Oswald Spengler, Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, Aleister Crowley, and Jack Parsons.  These thinkers provide the foundation for the writing presented here.  The spiritual path I follow is Thelema, a Greek word which means “Will.”  It is the synthesis of what I call “Southern Paganism” which includes the Greco-Roman Mysteries, the Sumerian cults, and the Egyptian and Chaldean Gnosis.  I have also been initiated into the mysteries of the Seid of the Nordic-Germanic mysteries and the Code of Troth (Asatru.)  This, along with the Celtic and Druidic cults, is what I call “Northern Paganism.”  It is my goal with this endeavor to bring the mysteries of the ancient Traditions of the West back to our society.
